The Harry S. & Isabel C. Cameron Foundation has awarded Bay Area Meals on Wheels a grant of $10,000 in support of our mission to deliver hot meals to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities across the Clear Lake area.
At $4.20 per meal, the gift funds more than 2,300 hot meals — delivered five days a week, every week, by volunteers who show up at front doors across South Harris and North Galveston counties.
The Cameron Foundation is a Houston-area private foundation with a long history of charitable giving across the greater Houston-Galveston community. Their support of Bay Area Meals on Wheels reflects a commitment to the kind of neighbor-to-neighbor care that keeps people in their homes and connected to the world around them.
For the clients BAMOW serves — many of whom are managing chronic illness, recovering from surgery, or simply no longer able to drive — a daily hot meal is not a luxury. It is often the reason they are able to remain at home rather than entering a care facility. And for many, the volunteer who knocks on the door is their primary human contact of the day.
We are grateful to the Cameron Foundation for this gift and for recognizing the work being done every weekday across the Clear Lake community.
