George's Story
A cardiac condition took away his ability to drive. Meals on Wheels brought more than food to George's door — it brought someone who cared.
For George Aulenbacher, asking for help became necessary after a cardiac condition left him unable to drive. With limited stamina and no safe way to walk in his neighborhood, even reaching a grocery store was impossible. With no reliable way to access food, George turned to Meals on Wheels.
Beyond the meals, George struggles with isolation. The daily visits bring more than food. They bring human connection, reassurance, and the comfort of knowing someone cares.
Living on a minimal pension and Social Security, George says he could not afford to live without Meals on Wheels. His family is unable to check on him every day, but the daily visits provide security and peace of mind.
